The Bay Green Foundation partners with The Chesapeake Bay Trust for the “5K for the Bay”

Millersville, Maryland, June 22, 2013- The Bay Green Foundation, under the direction of Greg Fisk, has partnered with The Chesapeake Bay Trust for their 2nd annual “5K for the Bay.”  The goal of this 5K race is to raise awareness of the critical condition of the Bay, as well as raise money to assist in its protection.

The Bay Green Foundation’s specific goal through this 5K is to raise money (monetary goal set at $5,000) to support an oyster re-bed project in the Magothy River, which runs through Anne Arundel County.  Due to pollution, runoff, and other ecological issues, the condition of the Magothy River has been consistently declining over the past few years.  The Magothy River is a staple within the Anne Arundel Community, making its deplorable health a pressing issue.

Greg Fisk, Executive Director of the Bay Green Foundation (http://www.baygreenfoundation.org), is offering a 20% discount to those interested in participating in the “5K for the Bay.”  By signing up using the discount code “BayGreen,” runners can utilize the discount offered by The Bay Green Foundation.

The “5K for the Bay” is scheduled to be held on the 22nd of June, 2013.  Registration starts at 7:30 am, and the race begins at 8:00 am.  There will be music, as well as plenty of food and give-aways.  Runners can sign up at, http://www.cbtrust.org/5kforthebay.

The Bay Green Foundation works to actively promote the well-being of the Chesapeake Bay by: endorsing Green Infrastructure initiatives and sustainable communities, promoting environmental education, and supporting research dedicated to the restoration of the Bay.
